Award-winning sections 2ND HALF:
BEST DRAMATIC SHORT
by Christina Tournatzés
2019 – Germania – Ungheria – 15:00 min.
Jury comments:
The real radio communications of a real emigration tragedy merge into a tense and raw audiovisual narration in which all the protagonists, couriers and illegal immigrants, live and go off in the claustrophobic space at the same time real and metaphorical of a refrigerated truck along a highway no way out.
BEST NON-DRAMATIC SHORT
by Levil Guillaume
2019 – Francia – 14:00 min.
Jury comments:
For the lightness and humour with which the story manages to delicately treat difficult issues of our society, amusingly overplaying the behavior of the characters, making us smile instead of feeling uncomfortable.
BEST ANIMATION SHORT
by Amir Houshang Moein
2018 – Iran – 8:00 min.
Jury comments:
Both in the way the story is written and in the way is visually represented, it shines for the simplicity and lyricism with which it tells us how the experience of theatrical interpretation can be deeply involving.
BEST ANIMATION SHORT FOR 3.18
by Anna Kuzina
2020 – Russia – 4:29 min.
Jury comments:
If a star shines in the sky it is because someone up there takes care of it, but if a star shines more than the others it is because someone down here has lovingly adopted it and does not stop dreaming looking at it. The playful afternoon of these little, poetically successful, protagonists move gracefully in a pastel-colored universe punctuated by an equally soft and effective soundtrack.
BEST SHORT FOR 3.18 FICTION
by Andrea Casaseca
2019 – Spagna – 12:00 min.
Jury comments:
The theme of bullying finds in “Era yo” a balanced synthesis, but no less dramatic, without indulging in rhetoric or in the search for the effect sequence. With a specular staging that, unambiguously, suggests the drama of the victim and the unconsciousness of the executioner.
BEST SHORT “PONTE”
by Jorge Yudice
2019 – Spagna – 5:00 min.
Jury comments:
For the beautiful idea of imagining the reunion of a family in an original way, creating an actual bridge between different generations, through internet and thanks to it, while also portraying in a good light the new pursuits our young people are busy with nowadays.
BEST SHORT “LIBRO”
by Francesca Català
2019 – Spagna – 5:00 min.
Jury comments:
In the “finite” space of a library, books demand “infinite” attention, in a quotationist metaphor that conveys, powerful, the message about the inexhaustible vitality of reading. A short film that has its beginning and end in the book, reminding us of the centrality it should have in the lives of each of us, even in that of a distracted librarian.
BEST SHORT “LENTO” (Giuria Lentezza)
by Marta Bayarri
2018 – Spagna – 15:00 min.
Jury comments:
For having been able to tell a slow story in the landscape and in the passage of time, but above all in the ability to grasp a reflection and a push to change through an … unexpected look. Because we can all have a second chance.
SPECIAL MENTION (Giuria Lentezza)

by András Körtési
2018 – Ungheria – 4:00 min.
Motivazione:
For the author’s ability to return situations, sensations, emotions, immersing himself and immersing himself in the great game of cinema, using real and imaginary fragments and creating strong suggestions. An important knowledge of the techniques and languages of the cinema of ” series B ”. The ability to control the visual and sound components characteristic of cinematic communication is very appreciable.
CIAS AWARD ex-aequo
by Zahra Mirrza
2018 – Azerbaijan – 7:35 min.
Motivazione:
For the poetic way in which such a dramatic theme as the imprisonment of a father in a harsh and violent historical-social context is tackled, the dramaturgical solution of the story chosen by the author is effective, which focuses on the mechanism that allows the child – with a design – to circumvent the ideological and bureaucratic rigidity of the prison system. Particularly appreciable is the quality of the acting of the interpreters and the cleanliness and care of the staging.
UNI JURY AWARD – ANIMATION CATEGORY
by Radheya Jegatheva
2019 – Australia – 10:00 min.
Motivazione:
It managed to actually leave us speechless. Incredible use of images and sounds to which different meanings are continuously assigned, mixing 3D and 2D animation in a very effective way. The intense and pressing narrative involves, restless and reassures at the same time and ends with an unexpected twist. The protagonist’s psychological self-analysis shows a new point of view that makes the short extremely original.
SPECIAL MENTION OF THE UNI JURY – ANIMATION CATEGORY
by Becky-Lulu Dartnell
2019 – United Kingdom – 1:21 min.
Motivazione:
This short stop-motion, in addition to being graphically well done, conveys a powerful message, showing the contrast between one’s inner being and the perception of oneself by others.
UNI JURY AWARD – FICTION CATEGORY
by Laura Hadsund Baarstrøm
2019 – Denmark – 10:59 min.
Motivazione:
Impeccable acting and photography that give a great formal cleanliness. The short tackles the difficult theme of separation with marked delicacy and elegance, effectively transmitting a strong message. Particular attention is paid to the emotional bond that is created between the two brothers, treated with deep sensitivity.
SPECIAL MENTION OF THE UNI JURY – FICTION CATEGORY
by Zahra Mirrza
2018 – Azerbaijan – 7:35 min.
Motivazione:
The message of freedom, rebellion against censorship and the deep connection between father and daughter are dealt with effectively. A simple drawing of a little girl manages to convey meaningful messages.
The sound is ingenious and capable of communicating in an immediate and spontaneous way. Every dynamic and narrative aspect of the theme song is enhanced and made clear by musical ideas that manage at the same time to be familiar and original, also thanks to a solid technical expertise.
With beautiful musical variety and good technique, the soundtracks lead the viewer into a game of ironic expectations and surprises, which even know how to give animated objects a personality.
Dynamic and brilliant, the musical path brightly emphasizes the evolution of events, carefully choosing the timbres with which to give life to the books of the theme song.
It stands out for the sly atmosphere of suspense created with wit and technique: a promising under 20 proposal.
For the ability to describe the different moments without losing cohesion thanks to the melodic line and the continuous rhythmic support. For the management of the ending in which the soundtrack expertly accompanies the narrative crescendo until the closing of the theme song. For having grasped the spirit of animation and the intent of the authors.
“Last night I was able to briefly attend the “David di Donatello “award ceremony. The presenter was alone in the television studio and one by one the various finalists were called by video connection from their homes. There was a red thread, a Ariadne thread, which united all their declarations: the pain of having to see the cinemas closed, the suffering of not being able to spread in the halls those films born to communicate.
So I thought of those who joined the Corti a Ponte festival in various ways: the organizers, all the participants, the finalists. How much work, how much commitment, how much passion each of them has lavished and, at the best part, at the moment when we should have shared meetings and projections, crossings of looks and handshakes, everything seemed to freeze in the grip of Covid-19.
It seemed: but it did not happen, because the “Corti a Ponte” festival did not step back.
One more reason to applaud the commitment of those who have not given up, one more reason to congratulate those who came out winners. One more reason to reiterate: not everything went as we would have liked, but we are here, the School does not stop, culture does not stop.
And we will come back again, stronger and more motivated than before.
